We are Peter and Karina de Vries. We have lived in Berltsum since 1996, in the former schoolmaster's house on the Hôfsleane. For years, the old school building literally stood in our garden. When we became the owners of the property in 2017, we knew immediately: we want to make something special out of this. With great care, respect, and patience for the building, we have renovated the former school step by step into a place where you can work, stay, and spend the night comfortably. The atmosphere of the past has remained, but the comfort is entirely modern. On the ground floor, you will find two spacious studios, furnished for guests who appreciate peace, space, and a stay with character. A lovely place for two people to unwind, discover Friesland, or enjoy a comfortable stay in the area surrounding Leeuwarden, Franeker, Harlingen, and the Wadden Islands. Our building is centrally located in Berlikum, 80 meters from a bus stop (line 71, both to Leeuwarden and Harlingen). The area is very peaceful and quiet. Berlikum is located on the Elfsteden route. It is centrally located between Leeuwarden, Franeker and Harlingen. This offers countless opportunities for beautiful excursions. There are several museums in the area, but also nice walking & cycling routes through the beautiful Frisian landscape. The studios in our school are also a great base for a day trip to Terschelling or Vlieland.
