Our holiday home is situated in the town center of Schoorldam in a small street, with very little traffic. The house is renovated only a couple of years ago. The building was originally a farrier, and the living area was the former shop of the farrier. The bathroom is situated in the former farrier, access via the original (low) door, so watch your head! Original details of the wooden beams are still visible in the bathroom and bedroom upstairs, giving it a little looks of an English cottage. But the home is well isolated and modern, with good quality furniture and modern equipment. The home is ideal for 4 adults, or 2 adult with 2 children. We have a comfortable 2 persons large bed upstairs, and a second bedroom downstairs. This room is smaller, has 2 single beds, but can be put together to make a 2 pax bed as well. This bedroom is located directly next to the bathroom. A very private garden is situated behind the home, with lots of sunshine, and hardly any wind, very comfortable. As well as a covered terrace is behind the house, so also on rainy days. you can eat outside. A small garden in front of the house gives visibility to the canal between Amsterdam and Den Helder called " the Noordhollands kanaal". Laundry equipment is available as well. The room on the left side of the house gives access to a place were you can park your bikes. We are Chantal and Seth with our daughter Myrthe age 5. We bought the house 7 years ago, and I started renovating the former farrier strait after, since it is located strait behind our own house. I am a captain of a Dutch ferry, sailing between Rotterdam and Harwich, so in my time of, I work a lot in the house. In my spare time, I like to play the piano, and we have a sailing boat, which we like to use as often as we can. My wife Chantal has the same interest, she likes to go skiing in the winter. Likes to read a good book, and loves to go away with our sailing boat. So we have a small mini library outside our own house. Chantal is a lot around the house, taking care of our young daughter, you might hear Myrthe playing in the garden. We like the living outside, enjoying our garden, with the great view and skyline of the "Schoorlse duinen" (the Schoorlse dunes). We respect your privacy, so you will not hear or see us, unless necessarily. Futhermore, I can tell you that the rest of the farries still needs a lot of work, but this is only in progress in winter time, when there are no quest in the house!

The small town Schoorldam is situated on close range of Schoorl and Bergen. 2 km by bike/car, and about 20 minutes walk. The house is situated in between many characteristic former dutch farm houses. In a very nice street, with view to the "noordhollands kanaal" a canal between Amsterdam and Den Helder. Very easy to reach by car from Alkmaar (about 12 minutes) via the N9. The home is about 80 meters away from the bridge. Schoorldam only has 1 (good vibe) restaurant, no shops, then you have to go to Schoorl or Warmenhuizen. By bike, the beach is about 25 minutes (8 km), the dunes at 2 km, and by car you can drive to the beach in about 15 minutes. Also the town of Bergen is very easy to reach and is about 6 km away.
