Company info

Runde Environmental center was established in 2009 as a scientific research station focusing on our coastal environment, with a visitor center and accommodation next door. Our nature interpreters at the visitor center offers daily educational hiking trips to the bird cliffs (in season) and other activities for both kids and grownups. Contact us to learn more about what is happening while you are here. Our friendly staff will help and guide you with tips on how to experience Runde the best way.

We offer accommodation in beautiful apartments with sea views. Short way to the bird cliffs, mountains and rugged shores or kids friendly beaches. Out here at the edge of the Atlantic ocean you will find plenty of space fresh sea air and tranquility with nature experiences right outside your door step. Placed next door to Runde Environmental center (Research and visitor center) Come to Runde, and stay a little while!

Neighborhood info

Runde is know for the its bird cliffs inhabited by different birds such as puffins, razor bill, guillemot white tailed eagles, European shags and many more. At the visitor center you will find our exhibition about the unique ecosystem just of our shores. In 2022 we opened our new exhibition about the big treasure that was found at Runde in 1972. Yes Runde is a real treasure island. From the center there is just a few steps to the shoreline where you might be able to see seals, otter or some of the many birds passing by while enjoying the sea view. 5 min. by car from the center you will find the trailhead leading you up to the bird cliffs or out to the light house.
