Company info

The hostesses who will welcome you are mother and daughter Sevle. The fifth generation came to a farm in serious disrepair. Gro Sevle and her handyman and plumber husband Aksel Børresen, built stone by stone over a 20-year period to get the farm to the condition it is in today. The best thing the two hostesses know is juggling the many different tasks a guesthouse and farm invites you to, meeting new and old friends from home and abroad and creating an overnight stay experience that is remembered. This is clearly the best job in the world and we feel so lucky to meet so many nice and interesting people from all different corners of the world. A warm welcome to the farm - we look forward to welcoming you!

Property info

Welcome to a different kind of accommodation here at the family farm in Numedal! – Accommodation – Dining – Company – Courses – Seminars – Events – Storytelling – Sevletunet (Nedre Sevle) is run by mother and daughter Sevle. The farm has been in our family since 1837. Two of the farm's buildings are listed. A long loft from the mid-17th century is one of the five remaining long lofts in Norway and is described by scholars as an 'architectural masterpiece'. The barn is from 1632 and is the country's second largest and second oldest timber barn. Before our family took over the farm, it was the young man Ole O. Sevle – "Sevleguten" – who ran the farm. You will hear the exciting story of his unfortunate fate during your stay. We are happy to tell you about the old objects, furnishings and functions - and how our ancestors and foremothers lived here on the farm. Accommodation is in three different restored guesthouses with modern comfort and bathrooms for each room. We have a total of 30 overnight guests. Breakfast is served in front of the fireplace in the living room in the main building with authentic timber walls, from 1850. Sevletunet has received the Norwegian Cultural Heritage quality mark Olavsrosa. We have all rights, welcome to order a refreshment. Sevletunet is located between mountains and fjords, midway between Oslo and Bergen, halfway between Kongsberg and Geilo - and 4 km below the center of Rødberg. We look forward to welcoming you to the farm! Please see discounted prices on our web page.

Neighborhood info

Sevletunet is located at the northern end of the deep, elongated Norefjord. In the fjord and in Numedalslågen there are good opportunities for both fishing and refreshing swimming. The mountain municipality of Nore and Uvdal is located at the foot of the Hardangervidda National Park - surrounded by high mountains with fine, varied hiking opportunities and large, well-groomed trail networks in winter. The large green area in the middle of the yard invites activities, running and fun for both young and old. We have a fire pit, wood-fired sauna, outdoor grills, an atmospheric barbecue room and a gazebo down by the water available to you. From Veggli you can cycle a draisine on the protected Numedalsbanen railway, through long tunnels and with beautiful views, stay overnight here on the farm, and cycle back down the next day - a unique activity full of history for all ages. The bicycles are parked at Gvammen station. 30 minutes from the farm is Langedrag Nature Park. There are also four stave churches in Numedal and Sevletunet is located halfway between Nore Stave Church and Uvdal Stave Church. Feel free to ask the hostesses about nice swimming spots and our favorite excursions.
