Loved where this cottage was in the country away from the noise of traffic. Was super clean and comfortable. Beautiful baked cookies and fresh homemade jams with bread left for us. Had toys and drawing pad and pens left out for the kids, along...

The property is in a rural location only 3 minutes drive from the main State Highway 1 and Motorway access that will take you North or South. Also close by are public transport options for bus or train. If you are travelling for business, with family, for pleasure, for a special event, or just a break away. Amblers Rest is a great option. The main house and Amblers Rest are located amongst an old fashioned garden, orchard and established trees. Guests are welcome to roam the garden and may be lucky enough to sample the fruit and resulting produce that may be available. We are happy to provide a highchair, or porta cot if required. Also for the children, swings and a place to play and run with balls to expend some energy are an asset, There is ample guest parking which includes a covered carport area.
Alister and I are looking forward to welcoming guests to Amblers Rest to enjoy a relaxing staycation. We are available for questions and queries if needed, If you are planning something special and need some help with that you are welcome to make a request. If you want to chat or keep to yourself we will be guided by your needs. Alister and Claire are prepared to do Airport pick up or drop off if required. We take an interest in sports during their varying seasons and are disappointed if our team doesn't do as well as hoped. We think family is important. We have two daughters who both live in the Auckland boundaries and we are also proud grandparents. Claire endeavours to keep up with the garden, but it is a losing battle at some times of the year. She makes chutneys, jams and fruit drinks from the orchard fruits. Alister is a great planner and always has a project in mind to be completed. He is looking forward to joining Claire in full retirement in the near future.
Local bush walks, markets, Restaurants, Entertainment features, activities, opportunities to taste the local brews are all within the region. Hunua Ranges provide some great walks through native bush and views of the surrounding area. Local markets are mainly Saturdays and Sundays with a range of food, produce and crafty items and all things interesting. Night markets (mostly Friday evenings) offer fantastic local street foods, crafts and community vibes. Restaurants are many and varied and cater for all tastes and budgets. Delivery is available from some local eateries. Auckland is also known as the City of Sails with access to beaches, boating opportunities, and many small islands to visit. They offer a variety of attractions ranging from wineries, local cuisine, fantastic views, many great walks and being able to get "up close and personal" with some of New Zealand's native birds. The waterfront in Auckland City is one place where the Ferries leave as well as home to restaurants and ever changing events. There are often touring shows available both locally and in Auckland City, with Movie Theatres in Papakura and Pukekohe as well as further afield a choice for entertainment is able to fill some time if required. Rainbows End fun park or Glenbrook Railway may be of interest as well as Auckland Zoo, MOTAT, or the Auckland War Memorial Museum. There are tastings of Craft Beer and a visit to a local Whiskey Distillery available in the area if that piques your interest. Of course you could take a picnic to the local Botanic Gardens and relax in their surroundings.
