This family friendly (fully fenced) beach house is located in the quiet coastal town of Aramoana, just a 10-minute drive from the quaint seaside town Port Chalmers and 30-minute drive from Dunedin via winding picturesque harbour coastline. Aramoana is home to a variety of wildlife species including yellow eyed penguins and New Zealand Sea Lions which you may be lucky enough to see on the local beaches or at the mole. Enjoy your time strolling along the local beaches, chatting to the locals, swimming, surfing or just relaxing on the deck in the sunshine. Other activities include fishing, harbour cruises and wildlife tours, Orokonui eco sanctuary or cycling the loop of the Otago Harbour. There are also many walking tracks (see the link on the Port Chalmers website under the Walk tab for “Wandering the West Harbour” map). The Port Chalmers website is also full of information on shopping, food, drink & activities. A visit to the historic Careys Bay Hotel for some delicious local seafood is highly recommended during your stay. Please note that there are no facilities in Aramoana, so shopping will need to be done in Port Chalmers or Dunedin before you arrive. There is also limited cell phone coverage in parts of Aramoana, but the settlement entrance and ‘the mole’ usually has reliable coverage.
