Dunedin is a beautiful city to visit full of history & charm. You need good walking shoes and good knees to negotiate the very steep Dunedin hills. The shopping In Dunedin was fabulous a mix of up market and some excellent op shops. Being a student city it has a buzz of its own. Easy city to drive around with stunning harbour views. Friendly helpful people everywhere we went. Great coffee and cafes with delicious food.

We loved St.Clair, great eating venues there.

We loved St.Clair, great eating venues there. The architecture in Dunedin is so interesting and there’s alot of fancy churches. Took a trip to the steep street and Lanarch castle and the surrounding peninsula down to portobello is a must see. Best Cafe in Dunedin town for fish and chips. ( also gluten free for coeliacs. Didn’t quite get the octagon! Just a section of busy roads really.

I was visiting to see my daughter in her first year, so perfect to see her and take her to Sandfly Bay, Tunnel Beach, The Albatross Centre and St Kilda as well as enjoy her swim competition at Moana Pools and watch her play basketball in the Edgar Centre. I graduated and left Otago in 1992 and had fond memories so it was great to visit Carrington College, jam in the music room, have a nice meal there, meet my daughter's new friends (who are her family for the next few years) and enjoy walking around campus enjoying the special vibes of Otago Uni and the beautiful grounds and trees next to the lovely Leith. Loved it and so easy to explore as it is so compact and such a friendly vibe - also went to a local choir performance at the Cathedral at the Otagon - really cool ! Didn't get to a pub as was just catching up my wee girl, but maybe next time.

The Botannic Gardens was the best and so good, I had to go back a second time as I love to feed birds, and I had heaps of pigeons on my shoulders and ducks eating feed out of my hand. You can buy the bird feed in a little shop next to the cafe for a donation. There is a small bridge to cross over a stream as you walk in and it's a perfect spot for a photo. The Railway was also quite spectacular and would recommend that you go there. If you're an op shopper you'll find plenty of those too.

Loved being able to get to Larnarch castle.

Loved being able to get to Larnarch castle. Would have stayed but the family lived in town, so didn't...this time. Did go out there for dinner and would recommend enjoying the 4 course meal and short tour of the ground floor. Lots of beaches and little time to view what Dunedin had to offer this time around

Very impressed with the University and the Campus.

Very impressed with the University and the Campus. The city has a real buzz with so much student life. Some great places to eat, unfortunately I cannot remember the actual names of most of them. However Thai Opal was a great place for dinner. Some great lunch places too and after dinner the Ice Cream parlours, a must! Shopping is great too, so much to choose from. Also St Clair’s Beach a fabulous place to visit and have a glass of wine and nibbles at one of several wine bars along the water front.

There is ample car parking opposite, comfortable rooms and a good range of facilities. The staff are helpful and friendly too. I would love to come back again soon.
