This adults-only retreat blends eco-luxury with sustainable living, offering a tranquil escape where guests can disconnect while enjoying rolling farmland, native bush, and coastal views through floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
Perched above the coastline on a historic sheep farm, Atatū PurePod provides sweeping vistas of hills, bush valleys, and Pegasus Bay, with snow-capped mountains visible on clear days. Native birds such as bellbirds, fantails, and occasional rifleman add to the serene atmosphere, creating a quiet and immersive rural experience.
At night, guests can stargaze beneath the North Canterbury skies in complete seclusion. Perfect for couples or anyone seeking a peaceful escape, the pod combines sustainable off-grid living with privacy, native birdlife, and uninterrupted views of farmland and the coast.
Located ~90 minutes north of Christchurch. Guests drive via quiet rural roads to a parking area, then walk 750 m (10–15 minutes) along a farm track through native bush to the pod. Grazing sheep and birds may be seen along the way. Detailed arrival instructions are provided; arriving before dark is recommended.

Take the opportunity to book a one-hour Farm Tour, where you’ll learn about the rich history dating back to 1850 as the farmer shares tales. Enjoy breathtaking views of the scenic coastline, and as a special bonus, you’ll also visit the local seal colony.
For those who love biking, there’s an off-road mountain bike loop that stretches 8 km, offering stunning views towards the Hurunui River mouth and the Pegasus Bay coastline. The track is well signposted, and guests can buy a map from the farmer to get started. With some steep gradients for an extra thrill, you can complete the loop in about 1.5 hours with an average fitness level. If you don’t have your own bike, don’t worry, you can hire electric mountain bikes from the farmer.
