The property is surrounded by nature - nestled in a garden with trees, lots of birdlife and views over the lagoon and mountains beyond. Accommodation comprises a twin-bedded room downstairs next to the bathroom and a queen bedroom upstairs which has a doorway curtained off from a mezzanine living area where there is an additional futon sofa bed. Please note, some guests find the open slatted stairs to the queen room steep, so please don't book if you think this will be a problem! The downstairs living area is open plan with a kitchenette and decks front and back - the back overlooks the lagoon, the front deck has a table and chairs. It's a characterful cottage set up for short term holiday lets, the bathroom was updated in 2020 so there is unlimited (almost) hot water. V fast wifi, and a TV with chromecast, there is an additional screen upstairs with an HDMI cable. Parking can be found on the roadside or just inside the driveway up to the pallet with pots. Hopefully guests find it peaceful and a welcome contrast to every day life. Owner or family member is rarely at the property, however the private sleepout connected to the garage is reserved for owner use occasionally during the summer - this doesn't impinge on the privacy of the house as it's entirely separate with its own entrance. Garage is not available for guests.

A 5 minute walk along lagoon side to the estuary takes you to the estuary where you a fabulous view of the famous Kapiti sunsets, from there the beach a minute away, and also you can access the beautiful river walk upstream. To the north along Tutere Street, you will find the Waikanae Beach cafe area - with the very popular Long Beach bar/restaurant, Coasties, a tennis court, playground and a well stocked 4 Square. For wheelchair users - there is a ramp at the back to the back ranchslider which will make access possible, however please note I do not advertise the house as having disabled access as it's not been designed to standard.
