Beau Vista Pohara is a private, fully self-contained studio apartment in the heart of New Zealand’s Golden Bay and the Abel Tasman. The studio adjoins the owners’ home yet is a completely independent retreat with its own entrance, verandah and parking, ensuring complete guest privacy. If you are looking for some R&R or for a convenient base to explore the sights and delights of Golden Bay, this is the place for you. The views from both the house and the apartment are more breathtaking than the photos can show. We welcome you to come and stay.

I’m an earnest multitasker and a happy eclectic. When I’m not hosting guests, word-smithing and marketing, or relaxing at the beach with family, I’m behind the camera collecting images for future paintings. I also love tending our garden and experimenting with new culinary ingredients while dreaming of the next adventure. Family, creating and learning are my joie de vivre, and we enjoy helping guests feel truly welcome. Although our own home adjoins the apartment, we give guests complete privacy—interaction is entirely up to you. I speak a little French and German and am happy to practise with anyone who wishes. We look forward to meeting you. :)

Our property sits quietly above Pohara Beach, giving you sweeping sea views while keeping everything you need close by. From your private apartment you can stroll or drive to Pohara Beach. This expansive beach is the warmest in the area as it slopes away very gently for a few hundred metres, making it ideal for small children. Close to the beach are tennis courts, a small store providing a wide range of goods and services, a slipway suitable for launching small boats, and some spectacular limestone cliffs popular with rock-climbers. There is also a great choice of restaurants, cafes and bars in Pohara including "Molly B's", "The Nikau", and "Ratanui Lodge". Plus a coffee cart and authentic Italian Pizzeria next to Aroha Health Spa. Within 10 minutes drive of this holiday home are Tarakohe marina, with a launching ramp for larger boats, the golden sands of Tata Beach and Ligar Bay, a nine-hole golf course, and Takaka township for that spot of shopping therapy. Pohara is a great base for all the other Golden Bay activities - bush walks, sailing, fishing, river swimming, Pupu Springs, the Anatoki Salmon farm (catch your own salmon!), and the Abel Tasman National Park (a paradise for kayakers, and world famous for its walking track and golden sand beaches). You can also visit the spectacular Farewell Spit and Wharariki Beach.
