In late 2016 we decided to leave behind the hustle & bustle of Auckland & opted for a quiet & gentler pace of life in the Taranaki. As luck would have it, we were fortunate to find this unique property in Stratford, located halfway between New Plymouth & Hawera & at the end of the ‘Forgotten Highway.’ The previous owner had the vision to create a unique environment from bare land. He was definitely a talented craftsman & went to extraordinary lengths to build this classic 1970’s home including milling all his own timber. He was also an award winning gardener with a passion for begonias & the glasshouses are testament of that love & dedication. To frame his garden he also constructed a wonderful pond complete with its own weir. Sadly in his later years the gardens took on a life of their own. Despite their faded elegance we both fell in love with the property & we have dedicated every available hour to bring back to life the beauty of his endeavours, including resurrecting the pond & we have even made a little walkway around it so others can enjoy. We also have our own bees & chickens & when available we will share the produce with you.
