Flat Hills Tourist Park is located on State Highway 1 in the beautiful Rangitikei Valley. Free private parking is available on site. All units have a flat-screen TV. A fridge is also featured, as well as tea/coffee making facilities. Towels and bed linen are included. Shared shower and toilet facilities are located close to the cabins (between 66 ft-197 ft away). The property has plenty of friendly farm animals to visit, a kids play area with jumping castle, maze, as well as an onsite cafe for you to enjoy breakfast and lunch. There is free Wifi, a campers lounge with flat-screen TV, book and games area, a kitchen and a communal BBQ area. Local attractions include the Whitecliff boulders and the Rangitikei River, great for fishing, kayaking and rafting. The ski fields are just over an hours drive away. Flat Hills was opened in 1985 as a cafe for people to stop in on those long journeys. Over the years it has been added to, extended, and become a popular stop for families and large groups of people. In 2015 the campground was added and opened, with the addition of the Pod Cabins in December 2016. In December 2025 Flat Hills was sold to Peckham Springs, who are passionate about the NZ holiday and camping experience, also owning 9 other accommodations in NZ, including many Top 10s. Cheryl and Jack took over management in March of 2026 and their passion lies in providing memorable kiwi experiences, especially through animal encounters!

Neighborhood info

The beautiful Rangitikei river which is great for fishing, kayaking and paddling is only minutes away. There are some great walks and cylcle trails and the golf chub is only 5 minutes down the road. The amazing Whitecliff Boulders are also only a few minutes away, then of course there is Gumboot throwing in the Gumboot capital of New Zealand-Taihape just 20 mins north of us. Ohakune and the ski fields are just over an hour away making it a great place to stay with plenty for all to do.
