Welcome to our beautiful home away from home! Kauri Cabin is situated just a four-minute walk from one of New Zealand’s most iconic surfing beaches. Private and peaceful are two defining attributes, yet the cabin has a special magic — beautifully appointed and set within a lovely natural setting. Kauri Cabin is very private and fully self-contained, with heating and cooling, plus a spacious deck to relax with a cold drink or enjoy outdoor dining after a day at the beach. Big fridge/freezer, gas hob and oven, microwave and filtered water are some of the facilities on offer. Huge spacious secure parking (boat space as well on request). The large deck provides a lovely relaxing setting to dine outdoors and relax. A Weber BBQ is provided and a separate laundry with a 9kg automatic clothes washer and a clothesline. There is a fold out sofa which could be for a child or an additional adult if required and separate bedding provided on request. A wall mounted TV and fast WiFi complete the accommodation package. We welcome visitors to our accommodation site after four years of rebuilding this property. Purchased in 2021 as an abandoned fire-damaged property we have rebuilt to include two accommodation units for travellers to enjoy the magic of this area. Kauri Cabin and the Pole Room are meticulously appointed for warmth, privacy and functionality and with a twist of style! We want to make your stay as memorable as possible so if you have any special requests all you have to do is ask!

Okitu is a small community on the edge of Gisborne City. Okitu/Wainui Beach is four minutes walk away, and a long large beach to walk! Okitu Store just 5 minutes walk away serves coffee, ice creams, (the best!) take aways and most grocery items. Cantina Bar (Wainui) is a great evening bar with beach style relaxation. Five minutes drive. Surfing aplenty is what this area is famous for alongside some amazing fishing!
