I grew up in Gisborne.

I grew up in Gisborne. It is quite isolated and a long trip to get there. The beaches are great and the people are very friendly. The shopping is not as good as it was in days gone by. I still love Gisborne.

There is no other place than Gisborne to experience the rising and setting up the sun. Gisborne lends itself to embracing all the activities that are on offer. The boardwalk along Waikanae Beach is a real draw card. People from all walks of life, ages and stages walk the boardwalk from morning to night. Everyone is so friendly with a Kia Ora, Mōrena or morning. Siting on Waikanae Beach and watching the sun setting eating fish and chips from the local Waikanae Beach Cafe is a must do.

Wish we had more time. We have visited Gisborne before and loved the bars and restaurants as well as the beautiful beaches. This time, it was a quick visit for a wedding. Pity it is so far away from the west coast!

This was a great place to stay for a solo work trip of 4 nights; my favourite of the several places I have stayed in throughout Gisborne so far. It was compact but highly functional and very cosy - which was great given the cold overnight temperature. There are some nice walks around the neighbourhood and a lovely sunny outdoor spot for middle of the day rests. This accomodation has everything you need and the hosts are really responsive.
