Well-appointed 2 bedroom fully serviced self-contained modern cottage. Māhina Cottage is situated in the desirable “Drive” subdivision a short five-minute drive from the busy town of Twizel in the Mackenzie District. The cottage provides two bedrooms, each with queen sized beds and wardrobes built to accommodate your suitcase (no more leaving it on the floor). View the stars from your bed with one of the rooms having a skylight. Stunning views of the Ben Ohau Range from the spacious living area and have breakfast situated on the breakfast bar taking in one of our amazing sunrises. There is a kitchen with microwave (no stove), fridge, ceramic cooktop, and all the kitchen ware you need. Complimentary tea, coffee and sugar. Relax in the living area and take in the vista of the beautiful Ben Ohau Range or view your own photos by using the HDMI plug available and transmit from your device onto the wall-mounted flat screen TV. Plenty of warmth in this cottage with natural sunlight and a powerful heatpump for those colder days. Twizel is an up and coming destination with the very popular Alps to Ocean cycleway, fishing/boating lakes close by and Mt Cook on our doorstep.
Michele is a teacher at the local school and likes to cycle and has done most of the cycle tracks around Twizel and beyond. Jim is a retiring hunter and keen fisherman and is happy to guide guests for a fee to some of Twizel's best fishing spots to catch our large trout or salmon in the canals.
Māhina Cottage provides a great base to explore the Mackenzie Basin. Mt Cook is on our doorstep with amazing views and trails including the popular Hooker Valley and Tasman Valley walks. Fishing is very popular at the canals and there are nearby lakes to go boating, water skiing etc. The very popular Alps 2 Ocean is on our back door step to take advantage of.
