Unplug, unwind and immerse yourself in nature at our rustic wagon accommodation... absolute waterfront in the heart of the Marlborough Sounds. Watch the boats go by in the channel below and enjoy the tranquility of the native bush and birdsong. You can take a walk down one of the tracks to the beach for a swim, to soak up the sun or go for a kayak. The wagon features a queen bed and ensuite toilet & basin. Adjacent to the wagon is a semi outdoor kitchen / dining area a hot water bush shower is set amongst the tree ferns. This accommodation is situated in clearing at the top of our property, a peaceful and private setting completely separate from the main house and the other airbnb on our property (Vintage Caravans by the sea). Explore the myriad of bush tracks snaking through the native bush on our property. There's some basic boardwalk bridges crossing the streams and you can see mature plantings of many NZ native trees along the tracks. Once its dark check out the glow worms down the banks of the driveway and the streams. Over the hotter summer months the bed will be set up with quality linen, triple sheeted with a summer duvet inner. Additionally some other warm bedding is provided if required. Towels are provided for you too. In regards to the bathroom, there is an ensuite toilet (flushing motorhome cartridge toilet) in the wagon and for showering we have set up a private outdoor hot water bush shower. Have a shower overlooking a valley of tree ferns. The kitchen / dining room features pots and pans, full cooking, drinking & dining utensils, tea, coffee, sugar, herbs, oil etc. There's is a double gas cooker, hooded barbecue and a small fridge provided. This accommodation is off grid with power from a 12 volt battery/ solar setup. USB plugs are in the wagon for you to be able to charge your devices though. While there is no WIFI at this property, there is a weak mobile signal at the wagon and a stronger signal up on the road or down at the beach.

We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of paradise in the Marlborough Sounds, just 1 hour from Blenheim, 45 minutes from Picton and 1.5 hours from Nelson. Although completely separate from the accommodation, please note that that we (Mum, Dad and 3 children, 12, 9 and 7yrs) also live at this property permanently. Guest parking is up on the roadside and please be aware that there are a number of steps to get down to the clearing where the accommodation is located.

THINGS TO DO: Swimming at the beach below. Kayaking (1 double & 2 single kayaks) Fishing off the beach. Typically you can catch Kahawai and Snapper from the rocky point on the left at low tide. Check out the glowworms on the banks down our driveway and also along the banks of the streams below the airbnb. It's a 30 minute drive to the Te Mahia Bay resort along Kenepuru Road. Food and coffee are available there. The Portage resort is 15 minutes past Te Mahia. Two beautiful sandy beaches are just a 5-10 drive down our road. Moetapu Bay and Double Bay beaches. Boat launching is available locally. The ramp is adjacent to the the community jetty, 5 minutes away in Moetapu Bay. If you're into your walking, we're close to several of the entry points to the Queen Charlotte track. This begins at Anakiwa but you can also jump in at several other points along Kenepuru Road. The link pathway walks are also nearby. Just opposite 350 Moetapu Bay road is the entrance to the Mount Cawte walk. This is a 45 minute walk through native bush to the peak of Mt Cawte where you can take in breathtaking views of the Pelorus Sound. Bird watching. Native birds are abundant around here. Typically you'll see and hear Tuis, Bellbirds, Fantails, Moreporks and Wekas. A classic New Zealand country pub, The Queen Charlotte Tavern is in Linkwater, which is a 15 minute drive from us. Havelock is the closest town (30 minutes drive). Here you can find a supermarket, pub and a couple of restaurants. Blenheim is a one hour drive. There are a myriad of wineries to explore there, in the wine capital of New Zealand. Nelson makes a great day trip...it's around an hour and a half drive. If you're heading to or from the Interisland ferry... Picton is a 45 minute drive. The Pelorus Bridge scenic reserve is 45 minutes away (on the road to Nelson). Here you can enjoy crystal clear river swimming or enjoy scenic picnics by the water. There are also a number of DOC walking tracks nearby.
