Staff were exceptional. Helpful and thoughtful are the words that come to mind. Also, the quirky little cabins were well above the standard I was expecting and the cleanliness of the whole place, including the communal toilets and kitchen, was the best I think I’ve ever seen in a camp ground of this age.

Beautiful awesome apartment, very clean and with awesome service. Kim was very helpful and kind to us. Thank You so much! We recommend this place 100% and it's not more expensive than an Airbnb, it actually has better prices. Elegant condo hotel with better prices and the best location.

Been many many times and love the place. Very peaceful off season, but plenty to see and do no matter what time of year. Decent supermarkets and plenty of places to eat. Variety of other shops and love the aquarium. Very calm swimming beaches always.

We were cycling. There were plenty of options of trails. We did not have enough time to do them all. It will be even better when the "Whale Trail" is completed (we did part of it). There are some VERY good restaurants in town and around the area. We always choose to do our trips to the South Island in April as the weather is mild and mainly clear skies. This trip through the Marlborough, Nelson & Golden Bay areas was no exception - 2 days of wet weather in 2.5 weeks.

I recently did a self-guided cycling tour visiting several wineries and local producers, and it was such a fun and memorable experience. One of my top recommendations is Bladen Winery. The tour was super interesting and enjoyable, lasting a little over one hour. It included a generous amount of wine tasting and amazing, welcoming vibes from the owners. At $25 per person, it’s excellent value and a must-visit. Another highlight was Roots Gin. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the place is surrounded by a beautiful garden that makes the experience even more special. The gin was absolutely delicious — perfect for a relaxed stop during the ride. We also visited DNA Brewery and Restaurant, which was very good and a great place to take a break and enjoy the atmosphere. To complete the trip, we enjoyed some beautiful gourmet experiences, including Harvest Restaurant, which offered amazing hospitality and a truly memorable culinary experience. Overall, the self-cycling tour was fun, relaxing, and full of great flavours, friendly people, and beautiful scenery. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable way to explore the region.

Stunning location in a lovely rural setting.

Stunning location in a lovely rural setting. Abundance of wild birds in a beautiful garden setting containg fruit orchards. A very relaxing B & B where the hosts have added so many little extra touches eg chocolates beside the bed, M&Ms, good selection of teas. There is a pub about 2 miles away which serves stunning renowned beef burgers. Jill and Peter were wonderful hosts. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Owls Rest!

The Portage was a lovely place to stay, the views were amazing and the staff extremely helpful. We were dissapointed about only 1 restaurant being open, and therefore not a large selection to choose from. We would recommend asking in advance, if they can make up a sharing platter, as this is not on the menu, and when we asked, they mentioned we should have ordered in advance. The beautiful view from the deck totally lends itself to drinking and grazing on a delicious platter. The kids loved the kayaks and paddle boards. We would recommend booking a transfer and taking a picnic to a secluded beach - we had a wonderful time.

Lochmara Bay has so much to see and do and has beautiful scenery. Peaceful and quiet if you don't mind the odd speedboat or jetski. Lochmara Lodge is a fantastic option for people stopping in from tramping on the Queen Charlotte Track or visiting by boat (20 mins from Picton) - the accommodation was excellent as was the food and activities on offer. They even take your bags boat to door and back! Activities include roaming the stunning gardens with unusual forest artwork, enjoying the wildlife in the forest and marine life from the viewing boat, feeding the animals, kayaking, swimming when warm enough, lying in the hammocks!!! Big shout out to the staff who work hard and are helpful and friendly.

I wanted to extend my stay, but someone else was booked in straight after me. If you want something different to the usual motel or hotel with your own space, picturesque rolling green hills overlooking a vast field of beautiful vineyards, sitting on the deck overlooking it all while you sip away on a Sav as you wait for a nice steak to sear on the BBQ provided for your enjoyment, then this is for you

A lovely little town with an array of eateries and views to admire. Jolly Roger's is a bustling restaurant and bar worthy of a visit and the Picton Village Bakery had the best potato top pie my wife has ever had. Cougar Line cruises are also a real treat to see the sounds in all its glory. Relaxing - destressing can't fault it.
