Salkantay Lodge was great. I arrived earlier than planned and they organized lunch for me as well. The cabins are very quiet and comfortable. Meals were AMAZING! I would definitely recommend!

The owner is so friendly and helpful. I cane down with terrible food poisoning overnight and he allowed me to stay past check-out and arranged a taxi to take me to my next stay - I would have been in serious trouble without his kindness

Room is cosy, water is hot, but the best thing we noticed was the lunch you can order for the next hiking day: the sandwich was incredible!

We are a small family that offers accommodation services in cabins built by ourselves. Our cabins are located in the middle of the mountains, a quiet place with all of the services that a traveler needs after hiking in the Salkantay valley. We also offer food and drink, prepared with local ingredients, adapting to the dietary needs of travelers. While you are here, you will be immersed in authentic peruvian culture. During your stay in our cabins, you can also explore the property freely, enjoy the abundant flora and fauna, and light a bonfire at night to roast marshmallows or drink a beer if you´d like while talking with your friends amongst the stars.
Hello, my name is Gunter and I will be your host during your stay. I am part of a small family that founded this land and has been farming it for many years. We are excited to have the opportunity to share our culture and traditions with people from all over the world. My family is very friendly and it is our goal to make you feel part of our family during your stay. You can count on our help for whatever you may need. We are a relatively young family, we like outdoor activities, we always organize family futbol games, if you want to join you are welcome! Our food is varied, we eat what the land gives us a typical meal includes potatoes, rice, fava beans, corn, chicken or beef and chicha de jora as a drink. Though sometimes we crave pasta or a burger. We typically cook together, as food is at the heart of our family. We all speak Quechua as our first language as well as Spanish natively, and can speak and understand some English. We would love to teach you some Quechua if you´re interested in learning - tupanachiscama!
Collpapampa was inhabited by pre-Incan cultures before the 13th century and then by the Incas as a trail that connected the most important cities of Cusco, such as Machu Picchu and Choquequirao. Later, the Spanish culture occupied the area as a mining camp. All this resulted in a mixed culture with an identity strongly rooted in its origins. In Collpapampa there are only 4 families, we know each other well. The place is very quiet, we have some local events that we celebrate some months of the year, for example in December we celebrate the founding of the town and we all get together at a party that is full of games and dances. In July we celebrate Independence Day, where the children of the local school offer patriotic marches and songs to the country. It is a town surrounded by hot springs, some are easy to find and taking a bath there is very relaxing. Wherever you are from, you will always be welcome here.
