The building was originally established in 1972 by the Montelibano family under the name Marmont Hotel, making it one of the first hotels in Olongapo City during the height of the American naval presence in Subic Bay. The hotel experienced decline over the years, particularly following the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, which affected many establishments in the Subic and Olongapo area. In 2011, the property was acquired by the Sangco family, who undertook efforts to preserve its legacy while gradually restoring and modernizing the hotel. Today, the hotel retains much of its vintage character and hillside setting, offering a quieter, nature-oriented atmosphere in Barretto.
