For us there is no better start to explore Lisbon than a trip on tram 28. Just a few minutes from our Apartments Hotel, the tram runs through center town taking you up and downhill. Get out in Alfama neighborhood to visit its beautiful sights and to have lunch in a typical Portuguese tavern. After eating a nice grilled fish, it is time to climb to the Castel of S.Jorge and enjoy the overlooking to Tejo River and Lisbon’s rooftops. On the way back take a short walk to the fashionable shops and cafes of Chiado or stroll through the renovated riverfront. The viewpoint of Santa Catarina is a mandatory stop at nightfall to watch the incomparable breathtaking sunset of Lisbon. When night emerges, vibrant and cosmopolitan, it is time to go to Bairro Alto to have dinner or a drink or even listen to fado, declared intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2011. The next day, it's time for a visit to the monuments and gardens in Belém, historical place where 500 years ago the Portuguese sailors set off to discover the world. In the evening head to Cais do Sodré where its bars and nightclubs have become the meeting point for locals until dawn.
