A. Montesinho Turismo is set in a small village inside a Natural Park. It is composed of 6 different historic houses, some located in the Gimonde center and other in Quinta das Covas. They are fully renovated in a contemporary style, retaining its original character and atmosphere. The air-conditioned rooms are fitted with designer furnishings made from natural materials. They come with a satellite TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries. There are also a communal a living room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. Free WiFi is available in all areas. The D. Roberto restaurant is housed in a characteristic Trás-os-Montes house and serves traditional Portuguese and local dishes. Breakfast is also possible upon request. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool, located in Quinta das Covas. The unit offers a bike rental to discover Montesinho National Park, while many hiking trails criss-cross just outside Gimonde and Bragança old towns. Use of the hot tub and sauna is available, upon an extra charge. The properties are scattered around Gimonde, never further than 1969 feet from the main building with the reception and the restaurant. Free WiFi is also provided here.

A. Montesinho is a family-run rural tourism project with roots going back to the 1970s, in the village of Gimonde, at the entrance to Montesinho Natural Park and just 5 km from Bragança. It is not a hotel — it is a collection of different house types, all renovated with contemporary comfort and traditional Trás-os-Montes character, spread between the centre of Gimonde and Quinta das Covas. In-person check-in, with the door always open. On arrival, we welcome you calmly, show you the house and stay close by — no formalities, no intrusion. Rooms have private bathrooms, heating and TV. Selected types include a private jacuzzi — ideal for couples and special occasions. What is private and what is shared is clearly stated in each booking. Water circuit (jacuzzi and sauna) available by reservation. Outdoor pool at Quinta das Covas in summer. Restaurant D. Roberto with regional cuisine and local produce, just steps away. Please note: A. Montesinho is a group of rural houses, not a single building. If you are looking for rest, comfort, genuine hospitality and the slow rhythm of northern Portugal — this is exactly it.
I'm Alexandrina, part of the third generation of the family behind A. Montesinho. The project started with a butcher's shop in Bragança and a tavern in Gimonde — tourism came as a natural extension of Trás-os-Montes hospitality, not as a trend. We like to welcome people calmly. We believe a good reception matters more than a good speech. We are here to help — suggest trails in the Natural Park, recommend what to eat at D. Roberto, or simply let you rest without interruption. Interests: Trás-os-Montes gastronomy, regional produce, nature, hiking in Montesinho Park, and the silence of Terra Fria.
Gimonde is a quiet village at the entrance to Montesinho Natural Park, 5 km from Bragança. The location is ideal for those who want to combine rest with discovery — at their own pace. On foot from the village: trails in the Natural Park, the Sabor and Onor rivers, mountain landscapes and oak forests. By car (5-15 min): Bragança's historic centre with the Castle, Abade de Baçal Museum, Domus Municipalis and the Basilica of Santo Cristo de Outeiro. The medieval citadel is one of the best preserved in Portugal. For those who want to explore further: Rio de Onor (a communal village on the Spanish border, voted one of Portugal's 7 Wonders — Villages), the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve and Puebla de Sanabria on the Spanish side, about 40 minutes away. Restaurant D. Roberto is in the centre of Gimonde and is part of our project — regional cuisine with local produce. Dining is sorted.
