Stuning restored traditional windmill blended seamlessly with a modern interior. Perfect for a city escape. You will be staying in what was once a working windmill producing flour for local bakers. It has been refurbished with a fusion of modern and traditional aesthetics to ensure complete independence. All the original components of the windmill have been restored or reused to keep its spirit alive. (see if you can find the old grindstone in the grounds). Nestled on the top of a small hill it boasts spectacular views of the Portuguese countryside, the lines of Torres Vedras and, on the horizon, the Atlantic ocean. Outside, you will enjoy the owners beautiful garden with a large water-feature full of fish and terrapins. You will have access to the swimming pool and feel free to lounge in any of the sunbeds. Even though you will only be 30 minutes, drive from Lisbon, the local transport is not easy to handle so we recommend hiring a car during your stay with us. However, we can arrange for transport from/to the airport for a small fee.
I'm an accountant for a small firm in the centre of Lisbon. In my spare time, I am writing a thesis for my masters in Business and Management. I'm also very fond of Snowboard and Travelling with my family and my lovely girlfriend :)
You can always contact me on my phone. As my parents live in the house next door, they will be available to provide any assistance you might need. We have a small very friendly poodle which you might see sniffing around the garden. You can find a grocery store in the village which is located at a walking distance of 5 minutes. There are also 2 local cafes adjacent to it. We will provide you with a map if you need. You will be staying in a traditional village next to a hill which was part of the Torres Vedras line of defence in the Napoleonic war. We recommend a walk to the top of the hill where you can see the beautiful countryside, a little chapel and a museum about its history. Our location is perfect to get to know Portugal as it is situated between 4 historical and turistic places: Lisbon, Mafra, Torres Vedras and Ericeira. Mafra is known for having a beautiful convent and a natural reserve where the Iberian wolves live freely and protected. Ericeira is a place favoured by surfers as the Surfing World Championship was hosted there. There is also a golf course 15 minutes away.
