Brave Empathy is a family company based on the history, heritage and knowledge of the family Ventura Gamboa. The main activities are focused on local accommodations, wine tourism, touristic recreation and support to education and training. The commerce of regional products, the service of bar and restauration, the wellness care and the consulting on entrepreneurship and informatics are secondary activities that contribute to the sustainability of the project. The company manages two touristic accommodations based on family heritage: Gamboa’s Place in Olhalvo and AM21 in Penusinhos-Ventosa, both located in the high council of Alenquer. Both accommodations are framed in a creative tourism perspective, involving activities of touristic recreation and of life long learning, particularly in short courses and workshops in the domains of creativity, sustainability, wine, music and local heritage.

Gamboa's Place is a small Wine Guest House converted from an old family winery in the Alenquer, Olhalvo village, 40 minutes north of the Lisbon airport and close to several wedding venues. People staying in this rural wine lodging are invited to relax, learn about wine, the story of the family and the village, in a nice environment. The reconstruction of the family winery aims to improve the sustainability of the village and its residents, to prevent the population loss and the building’s destruction, enhancing the rural development.

Neighborhood info

In the Alenquer countryside, Olhalvo is a small village very active culturally, with several activities throughout the year. In the center of the village is the Parish Church, from the 17th century, which belonged to the Convento dos Carmelitas Descalços and which has an interesting set of paintings from that period. Next to the Church is the headquarters of the centennial Sociedade Filarmónica Olhalvense responsible for most of the cultural activities of the village, which integrates the Phillarmonic Band and the Traditional Dances Group, both with several performances throughout the year. The village maintains several active traditions, namely the Pilgrimage to "Nossa Senhora da Nazaré", a festivity with more than 500 years; and "Cantar e Pintar dos Reis" at the beginning of each year.
