Having a quiet country setting: The Horizon Retreat Guesthouse is located in southwest Madeira Island, above the picturesque village of Lombada Cedros (Cedar Valley). Near the house there are Levada walking trails (one in view from the Terrace) and just behind the house is a bicycle route in the mountains. We are surrounded by hand-farmed pocket sized local agricultural farms with the odd cow, goat and chickens all tended by the friendly and kind neighbours. We overlook a forest valley and have extensive views of the Atlantic Sea and behind the house is an open Nature Reserve. The nearest restaurant/bar/cafe and supermarket are at Prazeres — 2.8 km away. Calheta's 2 sandy beaches are approximately 12 minutes drive. Ponta do Pargo, Madeira´s most western point with its light house, is only — 5.8 km away.
