Located on the outskirts of the historic Village of the Alcáçovas, within the Alentejo landscape, you can find Herdade da Burquilheira. In order to live the cadence of rural life, since 2009, we have created roots in Alentejo, being in Burquilheira and in the landscape that surrounds it, where we feel at home. The homestead became a space in transformation. Initially, we acquired some Limousine cows, which are currently the matriarchs of the cow. We worked the land and planted Olival. Our olive oil is extracted from its olives. From the beginning, there was a concern to maintain the natural landscape and to respect the local heritage. As such, Monte da Burquilheira was recovered, to create the main house, the Mother house, and the country house, for our friends and guests. The old Poldril da Burquilheira, a place where the foals created here were formerly weaned, was rebuilt, making it a modern equestrian center for training and breeding sport horses. 2019 was a year of decisions and change: we decided to improve our ecological footprint, converting all agricultural activity to an organic farming method. This conversion ends at the end of 2021 and all agricultural production in 2022 will be certified, creating a self-sustainable cycle that favors the preservation of nature. With a 360º view of natural beauty, it has the peace and silence of the Alentejo countryside. Monte da Burquilheira was recovered preserving the traditional characteristics of an Alentejo hill. It has two suites and a living room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room opens onto a porch with a unique sunset. The Monte is decorated with a traditional clay-tiled floor cooked in a wood oven.

We rent exclusively one Country House, so that you enjoy the unique characteristics that Herdade da Burquilheira has to offer, in its 300 hectares where you can stroll without contact with other guests. The Country House consists of a living room with fireplace, kitchen and two suites both with private bathrooms, with a bathtub and another walk-in shower. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, hob, fridge, kettle and toaster, crockery, cleaning products, etc. It has access to the pool in the garden. We are 8 km from Vila das Alcáçovas by dirt road.

There is no neighborhood in Burquilheira. Just the Alentejo countryside and our animals.
