Company info

We live in the main building and have a little daughter, two lovely dogs, chickens, sheep & bees. Our guests are personally received and we are available at all times for questions & advice. Depending on the season, we also offer some fruits and vegetables from our garden. We are originally from Germany, but live in Portugal for some years already. We are interested in a sustainable, close-to-nature lifestyle, permaculture and self-sufficiency. Ben is a product designer and passionate craftsman, surfer and guitarist, Elin was a child care and social worker before we started this project in 2015. We renovated the main house and started to build up a small self-sustaining organic farm, always trying to use as much resources as possible from our own land - such as building materials, water, firewood and solar energy.

Enjoy the tranquility of nature, the fantastic view of our beautiful valley and the laid-back attitude for which the Alentejo is so well known. MOBA is located within walking distance of the very original little village of São Luís and yet you are in the middle of nature - at the same time it is only 15 km to the beautiful beaches of the Costa Vicentina. We bring you a breakfast basket every morning so you can start the day relaxed. We offer four divided lodgings with separate entrance. Two of them in our old farm house which is build of rammed earth (Taipa) providing a pleasant coolness in summer, and two new (2022) tiny houses/villas build in wood+cork that are situated more remote with lots of privacy. All accommodations overlooking the unkempt natural beauty of our valley, which covers an area of 10,5 hectares of cork oak, pine & olive trees plus our organic fruit & vegetable garden. A creek runs lengthwise through the dell and there are many places perfectly situated for nature observation. We have a fenced pool close to the main building (Ø 5 m / 1,5 m deep) running with a saltwater system, which is very gentle for skin and eyes.

Neighborhood info

The beautiful and still very original small village of São Luís is only a stone's throw away. Reachable by foot (15 min) or by bike it provides all necessities including cafés, restaurants, pharmacy, a market hall etc.. Apart from that we are mainly surrounded by woods & meadows inviting you to spend time hiking, horse riding or cycling (e.g. long-distance walking trail Rota Vincentina). We are located at the edge of 'Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina' nature park, its beaches approximately 20 min. away by car.
