The lady at the reception was also very friendly. Perfect for a 1-2 night stay if flying out of Faro airport. It was a 5 minute drive to our car rental drop off in the morning.

Faro Airport (FAO) Information
Location and Transport
Faro Airport is less than 3 miles (4 kilometres) from the centre of Faro. It’s the starting point for many trips around the Algarve coastline. The easiest way to reach Faro is by taxi, which will cost about EUR 15 and take around 15 minutes. Buses 14 and 16 take around 20 minutes and leave from the terminal hourly from around 07:00 until 17:00.

We stayed in Faro overnight to catch an early morning flight...
We stayed in Faro overnight to catch an early morning flight. We went to the historical part of town and walked around. It was fine but rather unremarkable. However, there is a large shopping center in Faro with an Auchan Supermarket. This shopping center was fantastic, beautiful with nice water features and a large food center with relaxing outdoor seating.

The city is small, and including time spent in church's and...
The city is small, and including time spent in church's and museums, I only needed one or two days to see everything fully, but it was lovely sitting in gardens and coffee shops, enjoying people watching. I also joined a day tour up the coast to see the caves, which was amazing, and a great opportunity to meet other solo travellers.

Quinta do Lago is stunning.
Quinta do Lago is stunning. From pavement tiles to leaves on trees, the whole place feels perfectly curated whilst nature lends a hefty hand. There are plenty of scenic walks, with several restaurants and bars within walking distance too. However if you want more from your trip, I would recommend hiring a car. Ubers are aplenty but costs can rack up compared to car hire which is very reasonable as public transport is severely lacking in the area. Plus a car allows you to fully experience the surroundings and perhaps visit places you can’t on foot. QDL is a must visit if travelling to the Algarve.

Communicating only through email and WhatsApp could make...
Communicating only through email and WhatsApp could make things difficult. (In my case, I do not USE WhatsApp, and was not set up to get the check-in instructions). There is a phone number to the property, but there is not always someone AT the property (which they had already let us know, in advance). Fortunately, we were able to reach someone who went "above and beyond" by meeting us at the property, 10:00 pm on a Saturday night, to help complete the process, and we were able to check in. Our room was spacious for two people, and very clean. Although we did not make use of the shared kitchen facilities, they too, were spacious and clean. The property is a reasonable distance from the Faro airport. A "10" out of "10".

Need a car!
Need a car! Our main interest was the beach which is great so didn't really want to travel around. Vale de Lobo itself has no interest . A lot of building going on obviously for foreign investors. If you want to experience the real flavour of Portugal , this isn't the place. As a beach holiday with kids , that is fine.
Food is repetitive and ordinary. People are friendly, ubers are cheap. The beach side restaurants have nice settings & views.

Faro isn't a great destination for tourists.
Faro isn't a great destination for tourists. It's a normal working city and not where you want to find yourself when it's hot. As cities go it's quite run down in a lot of areas and doesn't have a lot to offer. On Sunday especially it felt as though the whole city had been abandoned. Things were closed and boarded up and there just wasn't anyone around. Use Faro airport but be sure to base yourself somewhere prettier with great local beaches within walking distance of the old town - like Lagos.

Very beautiful area to enjoy and explore by foot or bike. You need a car, bike or uber to shop.
Beautiful beach front restaurants and lakeside restaurants. Favourites for us was Dunes for breakfast and Izzy’s for lunch/dinner.
Boardwalks are super and early morning best time to see birds, etc. Nature reserve so lovely!

Almancil has loads to do and loads to see.
Almancil has loads to do and loads to see. There are waterparks near and beautiful beaches, as well as good restaurants. I recommend it for people who want holidays as it has lots to see and the people are friendly.

The apartment was lovely just the right size, the beach club was great and having the shuttle on tap was amazing because its such a big place you definitely need the shuttle bus to get around. We never had one bad meal at any of the restaurants every one was tasty and delicious. I would recommend Vale De Lobo resort to everyone. Its amazing

People were very friendly and the city is very clean. The ferry to Farol takes around 50min and then beach there is great. Pack a sun umbrella as there is no shade. The bars there only take cash. Busses also only take cash. Highly recommend Chelsea cafe (superb selection of cakes and staff are fluent in English) and camelo cafe very cheap food and drinks but only accepts cash).
