Solar Egas Moniz has 10 suites with private bathrooms, located on the 1st floor and accessible by elevator. On the ground floor there is a library, a wine cellar with a living room, a dining room and a fireplace, as well as a fully equipped kitchen to prepare your meals. The outdoor spaces (the swimming pool, the playground for children and the garden) were designed to allow days of peace and tranquility in a rural environment. There are several restaurants nearby with a take-away service where you will have the opportunity to taste the most typical food of the region. Upon reservation 7 days in advance, our Cook can come and prepare your dinner (additional cost), for those days when you don't feel like going out. Check-in is from 4 pm to 8 pm and check-out is until 11 am. Early check in and late check out have an additional cost. Check-in time and key delivery time must be arranged in advance. Compulsory deposit and identification documents required when handing over the keys. Outdoor pool open from May to October. Breakfast is not included. WiFi available.

Solar Egas Moniz is located in Paço de Sousa, in the municipality of Penafiel, in the north of Portugal, in an area where everything is green... on its steep slopes, the grapes that give rise to the famous Port Wine are grown. But on the slopes that surround Solar Egas Moniz, you will find the famous Vinhos Verdes and wine tourism farms to visit, such as the famous Quinta da Aveleda. Also visit the Preserved Village of Quintandona and venture along the existing footpaths. The house is located close to Casa do Gaiato and the Monastery of Paço de Sousa, one of the ex-libris of the Route of the Romanesque, sponsored by the Aio de D. Afonso Henriques, Egas Moniz. It is therefore in his honor the name of this Solar. Portuguese history is also evident in the geographical area where the Solar is located, namely in the route and discovery of the “Rota do Românico”, the starting point for a journey full of culture and heritage. We have several suggestions to give you, in order to spend a few days of charm in the North of Portugal, being able to make Solar Egas Moniz your “home” and from here to discover this beautiful region.
