The accomodation is ideally located for rural tourism, located on the land which has been in family hands for several generations. There are panoramic views of mountains, orchards & vineyards of the Alto Douro wine region. The nearest towns are Sabrosa (16 km), Vila Real (36 km), Peso da Régua (27 km) and Pinhão (21 km). The studio has been recently refurbished, is simple but comfortable, and allows guests to enjoy the peace & quiet of the region. There is a complete kitchen, and bathroom with shower cubicle, and hair-dryer. wifi internet, TV, heater & fan. Private parking.

My professional life has always required me to travel, and so I would love to share the world I have discovered and adventures I have had with my guests.

The wine region of the Alto Douro Vinhateiro is a UNESCO world heritage site, and is the first region in the world where wine was cultivated & grown. Tourism is centred on visiting local vineyards, port & wine tasting, and top quality olive oil. Gouvinhas itself has a small shop, fountain & church. It´s 8.5 km & a 16 minute drive to the River Douro. It´s accessible by car or taxi. The nearest train station is in Régua - Pocinho on the Porto line - let us know if you are arriving by train so we can arrange collection. The train journey passes through beautiful countryside, so is a lovely thing to do for a day out as well. Local legend says that when the English saw the vineyards, they said ¨Go Vinhas¨, and this is where the name Gouvinhas comes from!
