The Lumiares is a stylish 5* boutique Hotel & Spa in the heart of the fashionable Bairro Alto area of Lisbon. Beautifully designed Suites, style rooms make the perfect home away from home; choose from five sizes ranging from Studio to Penthouse. Opposite the Gloria Funicular tram and the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara (one of Lisbon’s most famous viewpoints Lumi Rooftop, the restaurant and bar on the top floor, is open all day and enjoys one of the best views across Lisbon. At the end of a hard days exploring, make use of our small but perfectly formed spa, which offers a full wellness and beauty menu and includes four treatment rooms, sauna and steam and a 24 hour gym.
Picture this: rainbow coloured buildings adorned with azulejos (tiles) clutching the sides of the city’s hills, the glimpse of a rickety yellow wooden tram disappearing down an alley way, cobbled streets crammed with tabernas and cafes and people sitting out in the sunshine watching the world go by over bicas (coffee) and a sweet pastry. Imagine turning a corner and finding a Miradouros (viewpoint) so dramatic and breath taking that it stops you in your tracks. Or being able to explore a city on foot – to see monuments and monasteries, cathedrals and art galleries all within walking distance. And then having the choice to eat out at a Michelin starred restaurant one night and a simple seafood restaurant the next, perhaps followed by a live Fado performance. All of this is possible in Lisbon. The Lumiares sits at the heart of all of this.
Nestled proudly on top of the hill in Bairro Alto, boasting fantastic rooftop views across to the River Tagus on one side and the Castelo de São Jorge on the other. Bairro Alto is the bohemian and cultural heart of Lisbon, with its eclectic mix of cafés, galleries, shops and museums right on our doorstep. Opposite the hotel is the stunning Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara – a garden terrace with panoramic views across the city. Turn right and head down the hill towards Chiado, past the independent shops selling everything from fashion and high end shoes to sardines, soaps and chocolates. At the bottom of the hill opposite the Cais do Sodré train station you will find the famous Mercado de Ribeira – otherwise known as the “Time Out market” - with its wonderful mix of regional food and wines from across Portugal. Or you could head north out of The Lumiares, towards the beautiful neighbourhood of Principe Real, or down to the designer shops of the Avenida da Liberdade.
