Welcome to Vila Bita, a 100-hectare Alentejo estate nestled in the foothills of the Caldeirão mountain range. Located close to the mythical National 2 Road famous segment that connects Almodôvar to São Brás de Alportel, the only segment of a road in Portugal considered a national heritage site. Vila Bita intends to offer its guests the richest experiences in perfect communion with nature, from a refreshing dip in the pool in the heat of summer, to the to the warmth of the oven in the cold of winter, passing through the most beautiful and flowering spring or the aromas and flavors that are so typical of autumn, Vila Bita promises to leave its visitors with the mostincredible memories. This property is all certified organic farming and its main activity is the production of sheep, but it also has other productions such as an olive grove, an almond grove and and a vegetable garden, as well as aromatic medicinal plants. Birds and Animals The campaniça sheep is an endogenous breed of sheep in this region that is under threat because livestock producers are now referring to more productive sheep. However, despite its smaller size, the campaniça sheep's characteristics constitute an undeniable genetic and cultural heritage, as it is a more resilient species that is better adapted to the region's harsh conditions. Vila Bita currently has around 100 sheep, 80 of which are campaniça, and three campaniça rams. The activities that visitors and their children can do with the livestock or any other agricultural activities will be described as soon as you arrive The property's more remote location makes it very interesting for observing the wilder side of the Alentejo. In addition to the storks, herons and starlings that abound on the outskirts of the house, you can find a whole range of birds and other animals that are rarely seen near big cities. This property has seen bee-eaters, puffins, eagles, kestrels, mongooses, badgers, minks and even Iberian lynxes
