This is more than just a place to stay; it is a thoughtfully curated space filled with original memorabilia related to Lajoš Vermeš, athlete and sports organizer known for pioneering the Palić Olympic Games (precusor to the modern Olympic Games), and the golden era of Subotica. Every item, book, and artwork has been carefully selected over the years, creating a priceless testimony to a bygone age.
Guests enjoy views of the lake, Coast of Lajos Vermes with the elegant villas Vermes built for the Palić Olympic Games, all while enjoying privacy and tranquility, surrounded by Zsolnay sculptures, antique maps, and rare objects – not for the masses, but for those who know how to recognize true value.
Lajos Vermes, born in Subotica in 1860, was a sports enthusiast, cyclist, and a pioneer of sports photography in Hungary. He built a sports circuit in Palić, along with a hotel and electrification projects, including a tram line. From 1880 to 1914, he organized international sports competitions in the spirit of the Olympics, which were forerunners of the modern Olympic Games.
