Kajkanten is located in Vrångö Harbour, seven minutes walk from the ferry berth. Here are 11 boat-houses with 2-7 beds (including spare beds). Each boat-house is equipped with a shower, toilet and kitchenette for self-catering. The boat-houses are let on a daily or weekly basis. You get a discount if you rent per week or over the weekend. We are open the year around. There is something for everyone, all year round, on Vrångö. Cliffs warmed by the sun, and sea bathing during the summer months. Being amazed by the powers of the sea when wild waves strike the cliffs an autumn day, or enjoying the first rays of sun an early spring day.
Som boende på Vrångö älskar jag att att kunna åka ut med en havskajak, njuta av havet och samtidigt få motion, naturupplevelse och hitta sin egna ö att bada och sola på. Min familj har bott på Vrångö sedan fyra generationer och jag är uppvuxen här och är aktiv i öns sociala nätverk, flera föreningar, ungdomstränare i brottning (f d landslagsbrottare). Min favoritplats på Vrångö är den västra klippstranden i solnedgång under en stilla kväll med picknick med en kall öl och några vänner.
Vrångö is the island where the people of Gothenburg go bathing. It is a car free island idyll. The landscape is a mixture of beaches and cliffs. Along the beaches grow rare and uncommon plant species, such as wild asparagus, willowleaf yellowhead and sea holly. The small islands and islets make great breeding places for water fowl. Black guillemot, red-breasted merganser and kestrel among other breed here.
Vrångö’s history dates back to the prehistoric age. Close to the new cemetery is a stone circle from the Stone Age. In the 19th century, a ruthless pirate queen called Johanna Hård lived in Vrångö. She hijacked a Danish ship and killed the crew.
The pilotage service moved from Vrångö to Vinga in the 1930s. But the small, red cabin still remains on the lookout spot Utkiken, and has become a symbol for Vrångö.
It is easy getting to Vrångö from Saltholmen with Styrsöbolaget’s ferries. The journey takes 20 to 40 minutes. Kajkanten is located on the western side of the island with a view of the lighthouse on the island Vinga. Harbour life is characterized by fishing and boating.
