Jons cottage is located in a secluded and silent place in the south of Småland, Sweden. The small lake Skärsjön is less the 200m from the house with a private barbeque place and boat next to the water. The place is a former small farm, used from the late 1800s to the middle of 1900s, with an old barn and storehouse, some pastureland and mainly forest close to it. The scandinavian stile of the cottage and its interior, combined with the stillness of the natur, creates a sense of relaxation and grounding. Here you can take time to think, relax and enjoy with your family. Fire some wood inside or outside, take a walk in the forest or fish in the lake, are some of the things you can do. Welcome.

My name is Anders Augustsson and I am the owner of the house and its surroundings. I live on a small farm a couple of km away with my wife and family, where we hunt, fish and work in our own forest partly. In this area of south Småland our family have lived for many generations, with farming of the small fields and the big forests. It is a stony and rugged landscape with hardly used soils. The inhabitants has toiled and fought for survival in time of bad harvest. For us, it is a matter of gratitude to be able to live and work in the land of our rots, the same as our ancestores. By renting out the cottage we gets the opportunity to meet and learn from new people, but also offer the area and lifestile we live in.

Places with more offerings of shops, bathhouses, activities and authorities are close by! The nearest town is Ryd (9 km) which has grocery shop, paint shop, pizzeria etc. Other larger towns are Olofström (22 km), Karlshamn (30 km), Tingsryd (30 km) which has everything you need! Shop for food, clothes, indoor swimming pool, bowling and much more. A popular tourist destination is Ebbamåla Mill (10km), which is perhaps Europe's best-preserved industrial museum with a workshop, smithy and a charming café! If you are hungry for outdoor life, you should go to Halens Nature Reserve and Leisure Area (20km). Or why not Tingsryd municipality's most visited tourist destination: Bilkyrkogården Kyrkö Mosse (9km) outside Ryd with old, rusty cars growing in the nature! Are you interested in fishing? Go to the lake Åsnen (15km) and many other lakes nearby! If you like to fish you have great oppertunities to do so. Buy fishingcard and have access to the great water of "Hönshyltefjorden" plus over 60 lakes in the area. You buy fishingcard on the website Ifiske. You can also rent boats from the local fishery management board (Almundsryds östra FVOF) Additionally, you can also visit famous places like Kosta Boda (65km) and Eriksberg Vilt & Natur (40km). At Kosta Boda you can buy and look when they make art of glass in the old ways. Eriksberg offer a safari park with swedish wild animals to look at!
