Cosy Village is a charming, one-of-a-kind apartment set in peaceful rural surroundings, embraced by nature. It was created within the restored oak structure of a traditional kozolec (hayrack) – a characteristic building of the region once used for storing hay and drying corn. Thanks to a careful renovation that respects the original architectural elements, the space has preserved its authentic charm while offering the comfort of modern living. Due to the preserved traditional structure, access to the apartment is via wooden stairs. The apartment features a small yet comfortable bathroom with a shower, as well as a kitchenette suitable for preparing simple meals such as breakfast or coffee. Special attention has been given to sleep quality – the centerpiece is a comfortable bed with a high-quality mattress and cotton bedding. From the bed, you can admire beautiful sunsets, and stepping onto the terrace allows you to truly feel the rhythm of rural life. Around the farm, you may meet our animals, including a horse, a cow, sheep, a cat, goats, geese, ostriches, and chickens. Guests’ pets are also welcome – they can move freely throughout the property. Cosy Village is more than just accommodation – guests have exclusive access to over 2 hectares of space, including a picturesque pond surrounded by willows and poplars, where you can find peace away from the bustle of everyday life. There is also a dedicated area for a bonfire or barbecue, along with outdoor facilities designed for relaxation – a natural extension of the apartment, including an outdoor kitchen area and a leisure space. This is a place where you can truly experience the rhythm of slow living.

Welcome to Cosy Village – a place set on our family farm in Slovenia, born from a desire to share what matters most to us: peace, nature, and authentic country life. The idea of transforming a traditional wooden kozolec (hayrack) into a space for relaxation came from me – I’m Anna, your host. Love brought me to Slovenia many years ago, and it is here that I found my home, my inspiration, and a deep connection to local tradition. Cosy Village is a family project. Ata Slavc (Grandpa Slavc), the eldest in the family, has spent his whole life on the farm and is always happy to share his hospitality – sometimes with a glass of homemade wine or his own produce. Babi Slavi (Grandma Slavi) is the heart of the home and a true master of bread baking. My husband Matjaž and my daughter Karolina support me in bringing every idea to life. I have always felt a strong connection to preserving what is old and unique – objects, furniture, and buildings. This passion inspired the idea of giving the kozolec (hayrack) a new life, so it could continue to serve a purpose – this time as a place to rest and unwind. We warmly welcome everyone who wishes to slow down, breathe, and experience the true rhythm of life in the Slovenian countryside. We communicate on site in Slovenian, Polish, English, and German, making sure that every guest feels comfortable and truly welcome.

Cosy Village is located in the village of Dolenji Maharovec near Šentjernej (6 km from the motorway), in the Dolenjska region, on the route between Ljubljana and Zagreb. The distance to Ljubljana is 75 km, and to Zagreb airport 78 km (approximately 50 minutes by car). Novo Mesto, the main town of the Dolenjska region, is just 15 km away. In Slovenia, everything is within easy reach, and staying at Cosy Village is a perfect opportunity to pause, rest during your journey, and discover the charming Dolenjska region or Slovenia as a whole. There are many interesting places to visit nearby. We recommend the Pleterje Carthusian Monastery, as well as the nearby open-air museum of traditional houses and the historic church. For relaxation, guests can enjoy several thermal spas in the nearby area, including Terme Šmarješke Toplice (6 km), Terme Čatež (30 km), and Terme Dolenjske Toplice (25 km). A particularly charming experience is a walk around Otočec Castle, located on an island in the Krka River. The region also offers plenty of opportunities for active leisure, including cycling routes, hiking trails in the Gorjanci hills, and horse riding. Dolenjska is known for its vineyards, local winemakers, and its characteristic cviček wine. Many small, family-run wineries in the area continue long-standing traditions of winemaking and warmly welcome visitors for tastings and cellar experiences. Food lovers will find a local restaurant in the village, as well as some of the finest nearby dining experiences, including Gostilna Vovko, Gostilna Mrak, Fink House restaurant and the elegant restaurant at Otočec Castle.
