Pod Skalo is a family-owned company, follower of a long-standing catering tradition passed down from generation to generation, located below the hill Stari grad (“Old Castle”). Our hobbies include activities in nature such as hiking, cycling, exploring the beautiful surroundings of Kamnik.

Property info

Pod Skalo is the name of an old house, situated close bellow the Northern slope of the Old Castle. The household has been known for its hospitality since the 18th century. The building itself is a few hundred years old and lies betweeen the hill and the road leading across the Tuhinj Valley to Styria.

Neighborhood info

Kamnik and its surroundings are a real paradise for those who like to spend their holidays close to nature. There is always interesting Velika planina – 1666 metres high mountain pasture, a real natural treasure. You can reach and enjoy its fresh air on foot or on bicycles. The sights of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, with peaks above 2000 m, will certainly allure some enthusiastic hikers. From the valley Kamniška Bistrica lead well marked and safe paths to the highest peaks of the Grintavci. Not far from Kamnik is situated the largest park in Slovenia – Arboretum Volčji Potok. Walking among carefully cultivated flower-beds in the shade of century-old trees means the relaxation of soul and body. For the ones who enjoy a bit of pampering now and again there is also a spa Terme Snovik – the right address for those who like relaxing in a beautiful surrounding of thermal waters, or even experiencing the hand massage by skilled masseurs.
