The best hotel we have been to in a very long time! Located in the old city, close to all the magical temples. The house is a 136 years old charming house. It has only 5 rooms, and what a room we got! Fit for kings. Clean, pampering, every detail...

Neil Niwas exceeded our expectations. The architecture is stunning and transports you to old Bangkok. An oasis in the midst of a bustling city!! The back area sits on the canal and has a Zen feel with beautiful and thoughtful touches everywhere....

We had a wonderful stay at Neil Niwas. The house itself is magnificent — full of character and history, it truly reflects the spirit of old Bangkok. The hostess, an architect, has created a space that feels both authentic and beautifully designed....

Property info

The idea of opening a house as a temporary accommodation for travelers who love old buildings and the atmosphere of Thonburi became gradually clearer as the renovation of his two-storey house progressed. During the restoration, we discovered many stories related to the House and the people who lived here, some by word of mouth, some through research, and others in the traces of evidence left to be seen in the fabric of the building. All of these create an ever-deeper connection with this House. Opening the House of ‘neil niwas’ to welcome the travelers is the pride of Mahasith family and is considered as a small step to pass on the architecture of houses from era to era (1890-present), from generation to generation. Although the building has been expanded and modified to meet the changing needs of its inhabitants, it retains most of its original structure. Sympathetic and limited alterations have resulted in it being able to stand gracefully for more than 130 years, relatively unscathed by the effects of time.
