Jim and Joe
This review from one of our guests best sums up what we want to give you our future guest. "Set beside a steady stream with woodland all around, Jim and Joe’s place was the epitome of classic Scottish chic. The trains in the distance and the chickens letting you know they have laid their eggs all add to the wonderful country ambience you will feel whilst staying here. Whilst they went about their daily business I felt free to relax in my beautifully decorated room and watch Netflix which is just what I needed. Coffee and tea are downstairs all day and muffins for breakfast if you wish. Fancy an adventure out? I saw Beacon, Cold Spring, Boscobel House and went on a hike. I also joined in their weekly drawing class in the art barn. A beautiful area I cannot wait to return to." We hope you will join us and enjoy the wonderful and majestic Hudson Valley.
Our names are Joe and Jim. Joe is from Houston, Texas and Jim comes from Glasgow, Scotland but now we have our home in the majestic Hudson Valley. We enjoy hosting family, friends and guests to our home. The Hudson Valley is such a beautiful area, it allows us to find something for all our interests and needs.
Beacon and Cold Spring are equally 3 miles from our home. Both are fabulous places to visit and to experience the rich cultural and historical roots of our nation. Both towns offer a rich selection of boutiques, restaurants, cafes, bars and diners. Boscobel House and gardens invites us to look back on our rich settlers dream and now hosts reenactment displays as well as The Shakespeare Festival. In Beacon, The Dia pioneered the conversion of industrial buildings for the installation of contemporary art, a practice and aesthetic now widely adopted by museums and galleries internationally. Also Bannerman Island with it's principal feature is Bannerman's Castle, an abandoned military surplus warehouse. But the biggest attraction to the Hudson Valley for most visitors, not only in size but stature is Mount Beacon. The view from it's summit is breathtaking. Your view is that of the Hudson River, look north and you see the Catskills Mountains and the towns along the river; Look south and you see the river meandering down to the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear day you can see the Manhattan skyline from the nearby Fire tower. All this is accessible from our home and back yard
