Jessica Gilman leads our guest experience. She is a veteran of the hospitality industry and is passionate about providing an exceptional B&B guest experience and ensuring every guest has an incredible stay in Camden. After years of operating in the fast-paced New York City culinary scene, she and her husband, Matt, a Maine native, spent three years living in Cape Elizabeth before settling down in Camden with their 8-year-old twins, George & Sella. The Gilmans acquired the Captain Swift Inn in August 2025. Jessica's goal is to provide a seamless, unforgettable stay where luxury feels effortless. She loves sharing her passion for an elevated breakfast — look out for her signature comfort dishes inspired by her former restaurant, BEC (Bacon, Egg, Cheese) in NYC — and helping guests discover the authentic, local side of Camden. Matt is a Maine native, loves to cook and is Jessica's partner in the kitchen. His father founded Gilman Electric in Newport, ME in 1961 so if you see a Gilman Electric truck during your stay in Maine, you'll know you're seeing a piece of the family legacy. Our special property offers an elevated bed & breakfast experience, blending the warmth of a traditional inn but in a fully renovated yet historic space with modern amenities and a delicious, two-course gourmet breakfast. Our nine guest rooms and suites at the Captain Swift Inn are named after ships in Captain Frank Swift’s original fleet and feature upscale touches like spa showers with massage jets, cozy fireplaces and private decks. The Captain Swift Inn is perfectly situated just two blocks from Camden’s charming harbor and downtown village. Guests can easily stroll to world-class restaurants and boutique shops, or hop aboard a historic schooner for a sail around beautiful Penobscot Bay, all a mere 5 minutes from the inn by foot. For outdoor enthusiasts, Mt. Battie in Camden Hills State Park is a 5 minute drive from the inn, and the Camden Snow Bowl, home to the National Toboggan Championships every winter, is just 3 miles away. Our inn is also centrally located for day trips—head north to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park or south to Boothbay Harbor.
