Property info

The Dam Site Historic District is one of the few places in Elephant Butte where you can actually stay right on the lake. It’s also one of the most unique and scenic areas in southern New Mexico. Set along the edge of Elephant Butte Lake, the district combines quiet desert cliffs, open sky, and calm shoreline views in a way you won’t find anywhere else nearby. The historic casitas and lakefront pathways create a peaceful, timeless feel, while the Dam Site Marina offers easy access to kayaks and paddle boards just steps away. Pontoon rentals at Marina Del Sur, located 2.5 miles north, make it simple to get out on the water. Staying here gives guests a rare chance to be close to the lake, surrounded by natural beauty and history in a quiet part of the region that still feels untouched.
