I graduated from a culinary arts program in Michigan and wanted, once the children were grown to do something in the food/hospitality industry. A B&B fit perfectly. It allows me to make delightful breakfasts and occasionally do a luncheon or dinner. The house is appointed with our collection of antiques, amassed across the past 50 years.

Our property is furnished in the finest antiques throughout. We also serve the best breakfasts in New Bern, included with the cost of your room. The owners were both trained in culinary arts and pride themselves in presenting old standards and new takes on breakfast entrees. Later in the day, relax on the front porch or sit in the parlor and enjoy a glass of sherry and a cake or pastry from our kitchen. We have a large back yard, well landscaped and suited for relaxing conversation. Every B&B tries to put one or two areas of pride that separates them from the others. Ours is food and the antique furnishings. Do you want to relax and enjoy the quiet of the late nineteenth century. Come to the Hanna House....we're it!

Neighborhood info

We are in New Bern center, within walking distance of all shopping and restaurants and the primary historic sites: The Tryon Palace, the governor's mansion built in 1769 when New Bern was the capitol of the Carolinas. In addition to the palace sites and gardens, our town boats over 150 properties built before 1900. There is a delightful walk-about along the two rivers that frame our town. Walking or jogging early in the morning or late at night is lovely and completely safe. Do you need access to church services: we have multiple denominations within two or three blocks of our B&B.
