Above the clouds on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano, the Lava Bus is no ordinary camping adventure. This off-grid experience will give you a window into life at the edge of civilization. Enjoy an incredible sunrise and local coffee with farm fresh eggs. Have a unique camping experience with a starlight BBQ, and enjoy a great night's sleep.
Originally from the UK, I moved with my family to Hawaii to build our off grid eco home and farm.
Welcome to the wild wild west, the real Hawai'i definitely off the beaten path. You'll see a wide range of unique properties in this neighborhood, but with no light pollution the stars are amazing and the nights quiet. We are a short drive (by Big Island standards) from Sourh Point Cliffs, The green sand Beach, Punalu'u Black Sand beach, Ho'okena Beach, and Kula Kai Caverns. There are several great places to eat like Tai Shan Farms, Kai Lokis or Coffee Grinds but plan ahead if you are coming from Kona because everything around here closes early! We also have 2 grocery stores, and L&L BBQ and pizza shop.
