Observer Ranch is run by a small, hands-on team who live on-site at the Lodge. We are glad to greet guests in person, share the best stargazing spots and nearby trails, and help with anything you need before or during your stay. Our roots are in space and earth science education, which is why the ranch doubles as a learning center with classes and events open to guests.

Observer Ranch is a 76-acre campground and learning center near Penrose, Colorado, set between the Royal Gorge and the Arkansas River and a short drive from local hot springs. It is built for people who want room to breathe, clear night skies, and a little hands-on learning along the way. Stays come in three styles. Our A-frame cabins are bright, modern retreats with full kitchens, private decks, and lofts that sleep families and groups. Azure is a one-of-a-kind 3D-printed tiny cabin with clean lines and a pergola deck. Our planet-themed camper suites each have their own design and make a comfortable, low-key basecamp with a private shower and a shaded awning out front. At the heart of the ranch is the Observer Lodge, open to guests for classes, a stocked library, the Little Spark kids' area, and a warm place to gather. Borrow a telescope for the dark, quiet evenings, relax around your own fire ring, or head out to explore the Gorge, the river, and the hot springs nearby. Minimal light pollution, wide-open space, and a friendly, community feel make Observer Ranch a memorable place to slow down and look up. Cabins are named for stars and campers for planets, and select units are pet-friendly so the whole family can come along.
