With roots stretching back more than 100 years to the beginning of the hostelling movement, today HI has the largest network of hostels in the world. At HI USA hostels, we welcome travelers and HI members from around the globe. As the nation’s leading hostel brand, HI USA hosts more than 600,000 overnights each year, with guests from more than 100 countries. For over 80 years, HI USA has provided a network of affordable hostels in converted mansions, reinvented lighthouses, and historic urban buildings across the country. Today, all of our hostels meet HI’s industry-leading quality and sustainability standards.

Hostelling International is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational membership organization. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on three side from a promontory cliff top site, each house built in 1960 is the old USCG family housing units before automation. Each house has a large living room with sofas and chairs, the large kitchen has an ocean view, refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, silverware and cookware. The bed rooms are bunk beds with twin sized single memory foam mattresses. Organic cotton sheets are provided and made by guests. One small room has full sized double bed for couples. Central forced air heating. Hot water, low flow showers. Wi-Fi is free. Cell phone service is also not always reliable. This is a great get away in a very rural area that is fantastic for coastal access, wildlife viewing and a dark sky location for excellent stargazing.

Pigeon Point is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on 3 sides and is in a California State Historic Park. Whale watching, tide-pooling, bird watching, kayaking, hiking, touring Ano Nuevo State Reserve, visiting the small town of Pescadero with it's 3rd generation family restaurant Duarte's Tavern. You can also visit Harley Goat Farm to see the kids.
