The breakfast was delicious; hot water and tea were always available. Loved the linen napkins! The common rooms were beautifully and sparsely decorated - organic cotton everywhere, lots of light, very restful. Wandering the grounds was fun. ...

The location was private and quiet. It was on a farm. It almost seemed like we had the run of the place to ourselves. The common, communal areas were nice.

We first fell in love with good food. Then where it comes from. Then soil science and regenerative agriculture; resilient regional food economies and food sovereignty. We know many others will step into care and action for a sustainable, just food system through the same doorway we did — that first astounding bite of a new fruit. A breathtaking bouquet of flowers. Watching a smiling child reach down and pluck her first strawberry. The Name: Saturn completes its cycle around the Sun every 29.5 years, returning to the same position it was at your birth. Many wisdom traditions say that in the year preceding your Saturn return, your soul gets antsy and yearns to reconcile any misalignment between your current path and your essence. It can be a time of great turbulence but also of great discovery, healing, and action. We committed to this land and project during our own Saturn returns and hope to play host to countless others as they return to their source. We can't wait to meet you! — Emma & Wiley

Property info

Saturn’s Return is nestled in San Juan Island’s West Valley at the head of the Garrison Bay watershed, where forest, wetland, and pasture converge. Far away from the rush of the mainland, it's a space to return to your self. ‍ The Inn: Bedrooms (see below), living room with couches & piano, dining room, and sunroom with built-in cushions. The Galley has a refrigerator, microwave, extra towels, and tea & water always available. Outdoor tables, with a hammock by the stream. High-speed fiber internet. ‍ The Farm: Flowers, vegetables, orchards, and pasture. Layer hens, sheep, and honeybees. We practice regenerative and organic agriculture. The Farm Store: full of local, organic goods. Natural wines, meats, smoked salmon, sourdough bread, beans, honey, salt, hot sauce, seasonings. Seasonally berries, fruits, vegetables, eggs, and flowers. Wildlife: Our stream, just ten feet from the Inn, is home to the island’s only native population of trout. You might see bald eagles, great horned owls, red foxes, fawns, banana slugs, little green frogs, and if you are lucky, an orange-belly salamander. Walking Trails: Trails meander and loop through our back 22 acres of diverse forest and hidden meadows. A beautiful way to start or end the day. In total, 42 acres to explore! Nearby: It's 12 minutes to town and the ferry. 3 minutes to Young Hill and English Camp National Historical Park. 12 minutes to coastal trails of Lime Kiln Point State Park and Deadman Bay. 8 minutes to the ocean & picnic tables of San Juan Country Park

Neighborhood info

San Juan Island Saturn’s Return is a ~10 minute walk (easy to do, but not pleasant because you’re on the road) or a ~2 minute drive to Horse Trail and the National Park Trailhead, which connects to Young Hill’s panoramic views and oak savannah, which connects to English Camp and the water. Our favourite ocean parks are Lime Kiln (where we got engaged), Deadman Bay (where we hosted our wedding ‘rehearsal’ dinner), and Westside Preserve. On a clear day, you'll see the entire Olympic Mountain Range and Victoria, Canada (a 400K person city just across the water). Lopez & Orcas Islands We highly recommend visiting the other islands and enjoying the magical ferry (schedule). Watmough (Lopez) and Turtleback (Orcas) are our favourite spots to visit. Watmough Bay feels like you've been transported to the cliffy Mediterranean coast. At different points along the trail, Turtleback offers views of the Olympics to the south, Mount Baker to the east, Vancouver to the north, Canadian Gulf Islands to the west. ‍ Recreation Whale watching, kayaking, fishing, renting fun little scooters, and charter boat excursions to outer islands are all quite popular. We're still building our list of recommended recreation partners, so you’ll be best served by doing your own google searching. Our Visitors Bureau is a great resource! Picnics Our primary joy on these islands is buying incredible fresh ingredients from our farm store and directly from others' farm store, bringing a blanket, and going to one of the many stunning beaches and parks for a picnic. Where to shop: Our farm store (Open Fri–Mon to the public, always open to guests —just ask). the weekly farmers markets, the organic grocery co-op, the food hub (order by Sunday evening for Weds pick-up), and farm stands: Aurora, Sweet Earth, and others. ‍ Restaurants Our favourites are Tenth House for natural wines and great local food. Market Chef for weekday lunches. Westcott Bay, just a few minutes down the road, is your classic
