A winding drive down a Texas Hill Country road, a charming cottage sits atop an elevated lot awaiting your arrival. Evening gatherings take place in a warm hot tub or a cozy campfire, perfect for making s'mores. Visit a local winery, cruise on a boat, hike the Canyon Lake Gorge, catch some sun at the “lake beach”, float the Guadalupe River with a beverage of choice or slide down the Schlitterbahn Waterpark tubes. Canyon Lake is truly a fun/relaxing place!
Recess Retreat was founded to create modern, relaxing escapes. Feel free to message your host for questions at any time! Typical response time is immediate but may last a few hours.
Canyon Lake is a lake town (obviously), but with a rural country vibe. You'll see several empty lots because it creates space. Neighbor interaction is very minimal, but you will see folks on morning walks. Corn will be provided if you'd like to feed the deer who visit daily. Be sure to check out the local wineries, breweries and restaurants; we left a few of our favs in the "red guide" :). Madrone trail offers a hiking/biking trail with lake views and access to the water. If you're looking for a scenic drive, swing by River Rd! Mostly everything requires a small drive and there are little to no delivery services. Lite grocery store (Lowe's) is 5 mins away while the fully stocked grocery (HEB) is about 20 mins away. San Marcos and New Braunfels sit 30 mins away, San Antonio at 30 mins and Austin at 45 mins away. Being that the property is in a rural area, 4 cameras survey the exterior.
