- Extremely private, homey, and comfortable. Perfect for 1 or 2 people. 4 if you wanna use the other area. - Extraordinary value per night, literally as cheap as a hotel! - lots of personality - all utilities that you would need to cook with....

Welcome to The Shack—a compact, color-soaked escape where retro charm meets a slightly psychedelic state of mind. Tucked on a quiet coastal lot just minutes from the beach, this thoughtfully designed hideaway blends midcentury character with playful, otherworldly touches that make every stay feel a little surreal (in the best way). Inside the main house (548 sq ft), you’ll find a cozy, light-filled space dialed in for relaxing—whether that’s slow mornings with coffee or late nights unwinding after the ocean air does its thing. Just steps away, a detached guest house doubles as a curated library—perfect for getting lost in a book, journaling, or letting your brain drift somewhere new. The garage has been reimagined as a laid-back game zone with a pool table ready for long, easygoing nights. The property sits on a modest slice of land (~0.36 acres), giving you just enough room to breathe while staying close to everything Long Beach has to offer.
I’m a graphic designer based in Portland, and The Shack has been a quiet constant in my life for years. It originally belonged to family friends, and over time it became my go-to place to reset, think, and create. A lot of ideas have started here—some fully formed, others just loose threads that needed space to breathe. There’s something about the mix of ocean air, odd little details, and the slightly offbeat energy of the place that helps shift your perspective. Hosting now feels like passing that experience along—offering a space where you can unplug a bit, follow your curiosity, and maybe leave with something new, even if it’s just a clearer head.
The Shack is tucked away on a quiet stretch with just two neighboring homes, surrounded by forest and coastal wetlands that create a natural sense of privacy. It’s the kind of place where you won’t see much foot traffic—just the occasional breeze through the trees and the feeling of being a little off the map. Peaceful, low-key, and removed from the crowds, while still just a short drive from town, and an even shorter walk to the beach.
