The Heron House is a colonial styled villa with all the charms one expects from classic Indochina, but with all the amenities modern travel have come to expect. In many ways our home is supposed to be a true home away from home with the same mentality one would expect if they were staying with a cool relative. With our focus being on delivering a luxury personalized service, the mentality is always 'Why Not?' Our staff is always happy to go the extra step whether that means helping our guests make reservations for dinner in town, arranging for a couples massage experience in their room, or just making a guest's favourite cocktail to enjoy in the pool. We just like to help out with making some unforgettable memories and perhaps some new friends along the way. We encourage all guests to get in touch with us before arrival so we can help with travel arrangements, organize a bbq, or perhaps just help you plan a romantic surprise for someone special in your life. After all, we firmly believe that our guests should treat themselves!

The hosts of Heron House are in many ways a reflection of the uniqueness of the house. Van Anh is a native Hanoian who had a fire lit under her over the course of her five years living in America, which she then put to work in her own event planning business when she returned to Vietnam. Loïc by contrast is a long story, having spent long periods living in America, Belgium, & Greece. Amazingly over the course of his studies, Loïc attended a wedding in the south of France where he just so happened to meet Van Anh while she was cooking just over a thousand spring rolls for the guests of her cousin’s wedding. Three months later, he left the Netherlands to join her in Vietnam. Long story short: a few years down the road they got engaged in Crete, quit their jobs in Hanoi, got married in Naxos (in true Cycladic style) and moved back to Europe to pursue a masters in hospitality. They both agreed it was most likely the strangest honeymoon they could ever have imagined. Perhaps due to their diverse backgrounds and shared love of traveling, food, people, and hospitality, they wished for Heron House to be a reflection of their personalities and a place where guests can feel at home

Heron House is a lovely French-colonial-styled villa situated among the vast fields of rice paddies that have grown to be one of the most endearing images of Vietnam. We love the natural lights of the stars at night, the soft breezes with sweet scents of young rice and the sounds of birds chirping early in the morning around the house. At the same time, some of our guests are generally more taken with the sprawling blue skies, giant water buffaloes, and the sounds of the local children’s laughter as they return home to the village from school. It is all part of the peaceful local life where you get to have a glimpse into farmers’ days and understand why they can smile so warmly. You will most likely run into our lovely 4-year-old neighbour who is eager to greet every newcomer after 10 seconds of seeing you with a giant smile and a hollering “hello!” We can only hope that the people and village stay this genuine and friendly for a long time to come and that all our guests have the opportunity to take a stroll around the area and come to find out firsthand how lovely the local life can be.
