The Willem Sternberg “blue-blood” wagon is the elegant, luxurious option in the campsite. The graphic motif painted on the side ladders inspired the use of stinkwood, crystal, and porcelain in the wagon and kitchen. Solar panels are used to power a small fridge/freezer for the convenience of guests. A paved area around the wagon keeps the blue-blood guests’ feet out of the dust. Tamboti fold-up chairs with crocheted cushions complete the picture for a delightful gathering spot around the campfire. A cake tin with cookies and rusks and a small container of milk are provided to enjoy with a cup of boeretroos or tea. Coffee beans need to be freshly ground, and a gas stove is provided for boiling water. A bundle of firewood is supplied for gatherings around the Karoo campfire. An anthill oven is available for baking a bread or cooking a bredie. As with the other campsites, eco-friendly practices are followed, with blackwater flowing to a septic tank and greywater being used for trees and shrubs. Solar power provides lighting in the bathroom and on the porch, and a small gas heater ensures hot shower water and water for the outdoor washing basin. The Willem Sternberg Wagon has its own private bathroom.
