Everything! WiFi worked, braai area in kitchen was great, small pool was refreshing, shower had hot water, bed was comfortable. Check in/check out process was smooth, communication with host was easy. 10/10, I would stay here again!

At first we couldn't find the place. Tucked behind the normal houses. It was comfortable to stay in. The Retha and Ludwig was friendly and very informative. A great off the grid house. I learned a lot from them.

Most people would describe it as an "Afrikaner Enclave."

Most people would describe it as an "Afrikaner Enclave." What we found was a close-knit, hard-working, honest and friendly community of people who are all aligned in their culture, spirit, and motivations. This was one of the most welcoming, friendly, and hospitable places we've ever visited honestly.

Our overnight stop is in the rather unique town of Orania — which, I think, should have the tagline: "Where everyone waves to you!" 😂 Orania is a privately run town established in 1991 and founded by Afrikaner intellectuals as a community focused on preserving Afrikaner culture, language and traditions, with a strong emphasis on self-reliance and self-sufficiency. It’s certainly one of the more unusual places we’ve visited on our travels through South Africa, and an interesting experience in its own right.

Their history was amazing to experience.

Their history was amazing to experience. People's perspective of their litte town was very interesting to see! Orania is definately on the growing side for students and Afrikaners were very friendly to receive us - we were invited to a tour which was very insightfull to see. Most interesting to have witnessed is self labour and how the Afrikaners stand together to build up something from nothing. The farms around Orania were spectacular with all their green fields. Orania can definately do with new entrepreneurs!

Its a beautiful town and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Make sure to rent a Electra car to travel around, it was so much fun. Best Chicken Burgers at Plaastafel and Die Koffiewinkel a must have Peacan Pie !!!!

Wrong ppl gives Wrong information about orania I didn't expect this nice experience Humble people respect, helpful, very friendly, They will make you feel at home and no racism at all like others try to exaggerate by talking about orania I'm a Lebanese non white and I received lots of respect more than white people I'll repeat my visit anytime I got a chance

I visited this town to see first hand what the situation was...

I visited this town to see first hand what the situation was with regards to Orania. There is just so much noise about this town in SA (from certain quarters) and I wanted to see and hear for myself. I found the town enchanting. What has been achieved by this community of people is simply staggering. The folks that live their are super friendly and super proud of the community they have built - and so they should be. While I might not agree with everything about Orania, I will gladly visit this town again and I will defend their right to continue to live under the constitutionally protected right to self determination of the Afrikaaner culture and heritage. The place we stayed - Son Vanger was delightful and the steak I had at De Ouwe Hotel was one of the best I have ever had.
